Description: 100% pure ABC line. “American Bastard Red”, is an Australian Bastard variety, which came from the US to Europe in 1999 as free Seeds from the brothers Grimm Seed company. It has been cultivated ever since in Southern Europe and has not been exposed to other ABC or genetics.
This is a pure ABC line, which isn't directly related to any of our ABCs or the ones from Painted Forest Farms (CSI Humboldt) or the ones from Hybritech. At least for the last 20 years.
When exposed frequently to temperatures below 10C (50F) many plants will develop purple-reddish flowers and leaves. Australian Bastard is a rare heirloom novelty, that does not resemble traditional . By far the most stealth variety around.
Morphology & Growth: Slow growing in the first 4-8 weeks, fertilize mild in this time. If you want to have plants of 2m in height start them 6-8 weeks earlier, than normal plants. Germination can take up to 3 weeks. Make sure to keep the soil moist, not damp throughout the germination. After the initial 6-8 weeks the overall growth speed picks up significantly. Leaves resemble parsley and the plants will grow rather bushy and branch plentiful.
Aroma & Flavour: Purple plants develop a berry-like aroma. Green Phenotypes are more Lemon, Terpinolene heavy. ~5% produce Garlic Yasmin flavours.
